Increasing Call Center User Productivity with Terminal Services

Overview

From the technical operations side of running a business, there are several things that are of vital importance including: time, money and user productivity. Call centers specifically need the ability to scale and maintain performance and availability for the task worker desktops.

Client Objective

A loan modification company needed to scale quickly and solve fundamental IT issues associated with a legacy, end of life desktop architecture that was incredibly slow and frequently down. They also needed to meet the following business requirements  to include.

  • Ability to provide rapid application deployment services
  • Increase data security
  • Sustain distributed geographic growth
  • Increase user efficiencies and productivity

Client Solution

To achieve this we implemented a clustered terminal server environment where all application logic and data storage is maintained centrally to server infrastructure. We then re purposed legacy client desktops with thin client software to save money on new hardware and additional support costs. Furthermore, the centrally-deployed applications are easier to maintain (for example, patching and upgrading) and simpler to troubleshoot when things go wrong. As a result, downtime is reduced, users are more productive, and business revenues grow.

Ultimately the client acheived the minimum business requirements plus received the following benefits from the Terminal  Services implementation.

  • Reduced technology capital expenditure costs
  • Securely provided Partner Access to Affiliates
  • Met required financial sector compliance initiatives
